This event is hosted by and proceeds benefit the CVRTC & Shippensburg Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
The Cumberland Valley Rail-Trail Council (CVRTC) is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable corporation dedicated to conservation, historic preservation, recreation and alternative transportation in the Cumberland Valley of Pennsylvania through the development of multi-use trails along former railroad corridors and other areas. CVRTC owns and maintains the Cumberland Valley Rail-Trail that runs 11 miles between Shippensburg and Newville and is working on extending the trail to Carlisle through downtown Shippensburg.
Founded in 1945, the Shippensburg Historical Society is a private, non-profit membership organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the rich history of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania and the surrounding area.
The Society is supported by over 300 members and dozens of active volunteers who help us serve the Shippensburg community. Membership is open to anyone interested in the history of Shippensburg, and new members are always welcomed. The Society's headquarters are located in the historic Dr. Alexander Stewart House, a beautiful eighteenth-century limestone and brick mansion located in the heart of Shippensburg's Historic District. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
