FAQ
Why do I have to pay a transaction fee?
Every time you use your credit/debit card the merchant who accepts the payment pays a fee to the credit card company for processing the transaction.
Also since the transaction is occurring on a web site there is a payment gateway fee. There are other fees the merchant pays to the gateway processor and the bank that hold the
merchant account just for having the ability to accept credit cards. Other costs include hosting and maintaining the web site that accepts the payments along with the associated customer service.
If you make a purchase from a merchant these fees are built in to the price you pay. You are always paying these fees! You are not purchasing an event registration from Timber Hill Timing.
We provide this service to events who do not otherwise have the ability to accept online registration and payments for themselves. Since Timber Hill Timing does not receive the payment
for your registration, we cannot build the fee into the price. The registration fee goes to the organization that is hosting the event and in most cases to the charity that they are supporting.
If we did not charge a transaction fee we would not be able to provide this service.
We use Authorize.Net to accept credit cards and other electronic payments safely and securely. The Authorize.Net Payment Gateway manages the payment information in compliance
with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). All electronic payment information is entered on Authorize.Net's secure servers. We do not have access to and do not
store credit card numbers; therefore, it is impossible for your credit card information to be stolen from our Site.
